Ohio’s Public Colleges and Universities Receive $397 Million From Capital Budget

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio’s public colleges and universities are receiving $397 million from the state’s capital budget, which was approved and signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine. The budget, totaling $4.2 billion, allocates funds for essential renovations and upgrades across educational institutions. These include improvements such as HVAC systems, restroom upgrades, infrastructure enhancements, ceiling and electrical repairs. Chancellor Mike Duffey of the Ohio Department of Higher Education praised the budget, emphasizing the importance of maintaining modern facilities to support student learning and workforce preparation. The Inter-University Council of Ohio also welcomed the allocation, noting its role in reducing maintenance backlogs and supporting innovation and research at Ohio’s public universities. Among these institutions, Ohio State University received the largest allocation due to its size and enrollment.
