April 12th, 2024-CICINNATI, Ohio-Shannon, a law student, and Curtis, a young child, seem to have little in common at first glance. However, their lives become intertwined through the journey of organ donation. Shannon, inspired by her cousin’s need for a liver transplant, felt compelled to donate despite not being a match for her cousin. Curtis, diagnosed with a rare childhood blood cancer, awaited a liver transplant for months.
Finally, a match was found, and both Shannon and Curtis underwent surgery. They met later and now advocate for living organ donation, sharing their story of hope and recovery. Despite their differences, they are united by the transformative power of organ donation and are planning to continue their advocacy together.
