Columbus City Schools has approved the elimination of nearly 300 positions as it battles a major budget shortfall. The decision has sparked concerns about student supervision and safeguarding in classrooms. The school board voted on Tuesday to move forward with the cuts. Officials say the plan will save about $26 million. It also helps reduce a projected $109 million long-term deficit.
