LIMA, Ohio-Lima Senior High School’s early childhood education program hosted a “Kickoff to Summer Learning Night” to demonstrate that learning can continue outside of school in a fun way. The free event, aimed at pre-K through fourth-grade children, featured various activities focused on reading, writing, and crafts, along with free books for attendees. Many of the activities could be easily replicated at home to help keep kids engaged during the summer. Sophomore Simaya Morgan emphasized the importance of making reading enjoyable and helping students retain what they’ve learned. The event also provided high school students with valuable experience in lesson planning and working with children as they consider careers in education.
