NORT RIDGEVILLE, OHIO-Cayley Anne Anderson, an 8th grader from North Ridgeville Academic Center, is one of over 200 top spellers competing in this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee from May 28 – 30 in National Harbor, Maryland. Anderson qualified for the national competition after winning the Lorain County Spelling Bee in March.
She emphasizes the importance of understanding a word’s origin in her study strategy and uses rhythmic tapping or nodding to aid her spelling. Though her goal is to win, she’s grateful for the opportunity to participate. The Scripps National Spelling Bee will be televised on ION with the Semifinals on May 29 and the Finals on May 30.
