MEDINA, Ohio-Medina Schools’ elementary students will end the school year a day early after the Board of Education amended the 2023-24 calendar. May 22 will be the last day for grades kindergarten through fifth, with May 23 designated as a professional development day for elementary teachers. The change doesn’t affect other grades.
The decision is due to training needed for teachers on Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), a new curriculum program for the district. The recent Reading Improvement Plan highlighted CKLA’s implementation, with teachers involved in the adoption process and preparation for the next school year.
