Respiratory virus cases are increasing across Ohio, with the Ohio Department of Health urging parents to take preventive action.

Symptoms include a runny nose, cough and difficulty in breathing which are often severe in infants. According to Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, Director of ODH, infants are at higher risk because they will find it difficult to breath due to the runny nose.

Although infants are at higher risk, there is a remedy, and this is what parents can do. Parents are advised to immunize their children who are up to eight months and there are vaccine for pregnant women to protect their newborns. Dr. Vanderhoff emphasized that health officials are working to raise awareness and ensure these options are accessible to all families.
