17-Year-Old In Conflict With The Law After Teen Reports Sexual Assault at Cincinnati High School
A 17-year-old student is in trouble with the law after another teen was allegedly sexually assaulted at Hughes STEM High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The alleged incident occurred on September 18 while school was in session, according to Cincinnati police. School Resource Officers went to the school following the report and investigators spoke to the student who reported the incident and to witnesses.
Police allege the 17-year-old is charged with attempted rape, gross sexual imposition and kidnapping. According to other reports from police, the teen was interviewed during the investigation.
On September 22, school leaders were notified that a student had reported being sexually assaulted by another student four days prior, Cincinnati Public Schools said.
School leaders immediately called the school’s School Resource Officer who collaborated with the Cincinnati police on the response, the district said.
The school district will not allow the student who is in conflict with the law to attend Hughes STEM High School.
Cincinnati Public Schools also stated that it is collaborating with the student who came forward and her family to provide the care and support that they need.
The Cincinnati Police Department is conducting the criminal investigation. No other details of the reported incident have been released.
The claims have not been substantiated in court and the teenager is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
