Cincinnati Preschool Scrambles to Find Funding for Summer Program

The Cincinnati Urban Promise preschool program is facing a financial crisis due to the loss of funding from Cincinnati Preschool Promise. The program was previously funded by the organization’s three-year COVID relief grant, but the funding has ended.

The program’s executive director, Abe Brandyberry, is concerned about the impact on the program, which is down about $45,000 for the summer. However, the center is relying on private donations and grants to keep the program going, and no budget cuts have been made so far.

The program’s students, including Shikia Newell, who graduated from the program and is now sending her own child to the program, are grateful for the support they received. The program’s future funding is uncertain, but Brandyberry is hopeful that private donations will continue to support the program.
