With the recent severe weather, it’s important for parents to talk to their children about it. That conversation likely changes depending on how old they are, but in many cases, it’s important for them to know what the plan is if severe weather strikes.
Sometimes they may be at home, other times they’re at school. While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, it’s important for parents to have a plan before the severe weather arrives, and communicate such a plan with their children. Having a safety plan helps keep the children calm, which is probably the most important thing at a time such as this. Meanwhile, school districts are currently faced with the decision to cancel school activities in view of the severe weather conditions.
