Smoking Cessation Program Helping Lower Infant Mortality Rate

A public health campaign in Columbus aims to improve the health of mothers and babies across Central Ohio, with a recent decrease in the infant mortality rate being noted.
The Baby in Need Tobacco-Free program, part of Columbus Public Health, assists mothers and their partners in quitting smoking to promote healthier outcomes for both themselves and their babies. The program educates participants about the dangers of smoking, provides support to quit, and offers incentives such as diaper vouchers for successful participation.
Over 100 individuals have enrolled in the program this year, contributing to the overall improvement in maternal and infant health in the region. Additionally, City Council passed a resolution recognizing and celebrating a program that supports new and soon-to-be fathers.
