Spotlight of the Week: Mark Mecum – Champion for Children’s Rights in Ohio
This week, we shine a light on Mark Mecum, a leading figure in the movement to protect and promote children’s welfare across Ohio. As the President and CEO of the Ohio Children’s Alliance (OCA), Mark has dedicated his career to driving systemic changes that benefit vulnerable children and families. With a network of over 85 child-serving organizations under OCA, Mark’s leadership ensures that children receive the care, protection, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Mark’s impact spans multiple areas of child welfare, including foster care, adoption, and behavioral health. He was a key voice on the Children’s Services Transformation Advisory Council, where he collaborated with families, youth, and stakeholders to shape recommendations for Ohio’s child welfare system. Mark also leads the Child & Family Health Collaborative of Ohio, a subsidiary of OCA, which works to integrate healthcare and social services for children.
