The Edgewood City School District has announced a closure for the remainder of the week due to a high percentage of student and staff absences.
“Edgewood City School District will be closed the rest of the week due to a high percentage of absences and insufficient staff. Students will return to school on Monday, Feb. 10,” said Josh Stapleton, gifted services coordinator.
This comes as several other schools in the region, including Middletown Christian Schools and Calvary Christian School, have also closed recently due to illness outbreaks.
Meanwhile, officials at Fairfield Schools, which serves 10,000 students, have not yet closed any buildings but are closely monitoring the situation. Lakota Schools, with 18,000 students, are also watching for any unusual spikes in absences due to flu concerns.
