Flu Complications Leave 4-Year-Old Ross County Girl in Coma

A 4-year-old girl from Chillicothe, Locklynn Boler, is fighting for her life after developing severe complications from the flu. What started as a routine illness quickly turned into a nightmare for her family.

On February 21, Locklynn tested positive for the flu. Just three days later, in the early morning hours, she collapsed while trying to go to the bathroom. She had cardiac arrest and stopped breathing. It took three rounds of CPR to revive her before she was placed on a ventilator and life-flighted to a children’s hospital.

Now, Locklynn is in a coma, having suffered severe brain damage due to the lack of oxygen. Doctors have told her family that she will never walk, talk, or eat on her own again—a heartbreaking reality for parents who just days before were watching their happy, energetic little girl play like any other child her age.

“You always hear about tragedies like this happening to other families, but you never think it will be your own,” said Bethany Patrick, Locklynn’s aunt.
