Orange Schools Unveils Official Lion Mascot Logo

The Orange City Schools district now has an official Lion logo that will be used districtwide. On Monday, June 23, the Orange Board of Education approved the new design, which comes in both a two-color version featuring the school’s orange and black colors and a black-and-white version.

While Orange High School athletic teams have long been known as the Lions, various groups across the district, including the Orange Boosters, PTA, and others, have each used their version of a lion logo. This new design aims to unify branding across the district, though groups can continue using their existing logos if they prefer.

“We’re not looking to go back and replace everything in the district with this,” said Lou DeVincentis, director of communications. “We’re going to slowly phase (the new logo) in and take a year or so before it’s fully implemented.”

DeVincentis explained that the process of adopting an official logo has been in motion for at least two years. The district worked with Tracy Miller, a professional graphic designer and Orange High School parent, to create a logo that is easily reproducible and represents a personality that is “proud, strong, and positive.”

The chosen design was selected by the board’s Communications Committee from several options presented by Miller. According to DeVincentis, the logo stands out for its clean design and versatility across materials such as banners, publications, apparel, and more.

The new logo marks a step toward a cohesive visual identity throughout the Orange City Schools community.
