CASA of Franklin County Calls for Greater Support for Children in Foster Care

Children in foster care in Franklin County may experience significant instability while moving through the child welfare system, according to the CASA of Franklin County.
The organisation states that a child is likely to move three or more times during the average 21 months spent in foster care. Such changes can disrupt children’s sense of stability and make consistent support particularly important.
CASA of Franklin County works to advocate for the best interests of children in foster care. Its Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) and Guardians ad Litem (GALs) help ensure that children’s needs and circumstances are represented during their involvement with the court and child welfare systems.
The organisation is encouraging members of the community to become volunteers and support children who are navigating foster care. Volunteers receive resources and information to help them understand their responsibilities and advocate effectively.
CASA of Franklin County is a department of the Franklin County Office of Justice Policy and Programs. Through its volunteer programme, the organisation seeks to provide children with consistent adult advocacy during a period that can involve changes in homes, schools and relationships.
The organisation’s message, “Change a Child’s Story,” reflects its emphasis on ensuring that children in foster care have someone committed to advocating for their wellbeing and best interests.
