Beavercreek City Schools superintendent Paul Otten has been honored as Ohio Superintendent of the Year by the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, recognizing his excellence in leadership, communication, professionalism, and community engagement.

Otten, who has led the district since 2016, will now move on to represent Ohio in the competition for National Superintendent of the Year.

Under his leadership, the district has expanded educational opportunities for students, including the establishment of an Air Force Junior ROTC program and the launch of new career technology pathways, such as cybersecurity and education technology.

He has also driven efforts to strengthen collaboration across the school community, engaging students, families, business leaders, and local partners.

School board president Jo Ann Rigano praised Otten’s work, calling him one of the state’s finest leaders. Otten credited the recognition to the collective efforts of the Beavercreek community in building a culture of innovation and student success.

The National Superintendent of the Year winner will be announced in February 2026 at the AASA National Conference on Leadership.

This recognition underscores a continued commitment to ensuring that every child enjoys their right to quality education and equal opportunity to thrive.
