Belmont County Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Sexually Exploiting Multiple Children
A 65-year-old man from Flushing, Ohio, has been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing at least nine children, both male and female, according to court documents.
Between 2022 and 2023, Dennis Stopar sexually assaulted the children and created hundreds of videos and images of the abuse, many of whom were family-related and living with his relatives at the time.
The case surfaced when Dropbox flagged illegal uploads tied to Stopar’s IP address. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant and recovered electronic devices containing at least 160 images and 12 videos documenting the assaults. He pleaded guilty in December 2024 and was sentenced on July 2, 2025.
This sentencing underscores the commitment of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to pursue the most serious penalties for such heinous crimes and serves as a reminder of the vigilance required to protect children in the digital age.
