CCS ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS AHEAD OF 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

Columbus City School is pleased to announce four new assistant principalships ahead of the 2024-25 school year.

Briggs High School: Dr. Ammar Al-Sharafi has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Briggs High School in Columbus City Schools for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. Previously a Leadership Intern at Independence High School, Dr. Al-Sharafi is recognized for his dedication to student success, curriculum improvement, and support for extracurricular activities. Dr. Al-Sharafi’s extensive teaching experience also spans roles as an Adjunct Professor and ESL instructor at various institutions.

Dr. Al-Sharafi joins Briggs High School with fluency in Arabic and intermediate proficiency in Spanish, enriching his ability to connect with the diverse student body. Dr. Al-Sharafi aims to cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment, fostering hope for a brighter future at Briggs High School. His vision is anticipated to positively influence students, staff, and the community as a whole.

Fort Hayes Arts & Academics High School:  Joleata Johnson has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Fort Hayes Arts & Academics High School. She brings over 20 years of experience in teaching, administration, and project management to her new role. Johnson began her career in education with Columbus City Schools, holding various positions including Assistant Principal at Columbus North International School. In this role, she chaired important meetings on curriculum, safety, and student disciplinary policies, supervised school personnel, managed student behavior interventions, coordinated events, and oversaw standardized testing.

Throughout her career, Johnson has demonstrated strong leadership and dedication, making significant contributions to academic objectives and community involvement within Columbus City Schools.

Marion-Franklin High School:  Isaiah Terrell has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Marion-Franklin High School. With over a decade of experience in educational leadership and private-sector management, Mr. Terrell brings a strong background to his role. He holds a 5-year Professional License-Principal across various grade levels and is an Ohio Credentialed Teacher Evaluator (OTES 2.0). His educational qualifications include an Executive MBA from The Ohio State University and a BBA in Management from Davenport University.

His appointment at Marion-Franklin High School reflects his commitment to leveraging data-driven improvements in academic performance and nurturing a positive school culture. His expertise in equity-centered leadership, instructional enhancement, and relationship building is expected to have a significant positive impact on the school community.

Marion-Franklin High School:  Charles Ratliff has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Marion-Franklin High School, known for his transformative leadership style that empowers both teachers and students. His dedication to fostering an equitable learning environment aligns closely with the school’s mission.

Ratliff’s career in education began as a teacher within Columbus City Schools from August 2001 to June 2021, where he mentored students and facilitated significant academic growth. He holds a Principal License for grades PreK through 12 and a Teaching Certificate for grades 1-8. Ratliff earned a Master’s of Education in Leadership from Miami University and a Master’s in Education from Wright State University, both with high academic honors. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Aviation Aircraft Systems from Ohio State University.
