Children Spotlight of the Week: Anshul Dalal – A Trailblazer in STEM, the Arts, and Leadership
Meet Anshul Dalal, a remarkable senior at New Albany High School in Ohio, USA, who is proving that academic excellence, creativity, and leadership can go hand in hand.
With a stellar 4.41 GPA, Anshul is a National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction, excelling in a rigorous curriculum while balancing a wide array of passions in STEM, music, martial arts, and youth leadership.
As Team Captain of FRC Team 5667, New Albany High School’s first robotics team, Anshul leads over 40 students in designing and building competitive robots in a time-pressured environment. His leadership and engineering acumen have helped steer the team to the FIRST Robotics World Championships in both 2023 and 2024, a remarkable feat for a relatively young team.
His technical skills, especially in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and Fabrication, earned him recognition as a Dean’s List Semi-Finalist, one of the most prestigious honors in the FIRST Robotics community. As Graphic Design Lead, his contributions also helped the team become a Safety Animation Finalist, with their work gaining international visibility.
Anshul’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom and lab. After 10 years of dedicated training, he holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in the Chuck Norris System, a testament to his perseverance, focus, and discipline, qualities that shine through in all aspects of his life.
A passionate musician, Anshul has spent seven years exploring musical expression, starting with the clarinet, moving to percussion, and now playing the saxophone. He serves as a snare drummer on the varsity marching drumline and was the Percussion Lead for the Pit Orchestra in school musicals, showcasing his ability to blend precision with performance.
For his Senior Seminar Capstone, Anshul combined creativity and engineering to design a musical synthesizer from scratch. Along the way, he mastered soldering, programming, CAD, and 3D printing, showcasing the kind of hands-on innovation that defines the future of technology.
Anshul plans to pursue a career in Computer Engineering, driven by a passion for inspiring others and advancing STEM education through hands-on, creative learning. His journey already embodies the power of youth to lead, create, and transform communities and the world.
