Children Spotlight of the Week: Natalie Gray
Date: (July 3rd, 2024)
Natalie Gray’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and compassion. Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at the age of 13 on July 16, 2021, Natalie faced a daunting medical battle.
After undergoing two brain surgeries within five days, she returned home to begin her recovery, but her journey was far from over. Instead of focusing solely on her own challenges, Natalie turned her diagnosis into a mission to help others.
Natalie has been unwavering in her commitment to use her medical experience to support other children and families impacted by brain tumors. Inspired by her own journey, she spearheaded the creation of a foundation dedicated to raising funds for pediatric brain tumor research. Her determination and leadership have inspired an outpouring of generosity from the community.
She is a student at Olentangy Liberty High School in Powell, Ohio. Recently, Natalie and her foundation reached a significant milestone by raising over $200,000 in donations. Last weekend, an event featuring doubleheader basketball games between the Liberty and Olentangy Orange girls and boys teams was held in Ohio which helped raise $30,825, bringing her closer to her goal of $250,000 for research.
The event was a resounding success, with a packed gym, a positive atmosphere, and overwhelming community support, making it a memorable and fun evening for all involved.
Natalie’s foundation has committed $250,000 to the CONNECT Consortium over five years, a commitment that will have a lasting impact on pediatric brain tumor research.
Her crusade to raise funds and awareness for life-saving research is both inspiring and necessary, providing hope and support to countless families facing similar challenges. Natalie’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference one determined individual can make in the lives of many.
