Date: (June 26, 2024)
This week, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of 13-year-old Talent Kanjo, a polymath whose exceptional talents and accomplishments make him a standout individual in the Westerville community.
Academic Excellence
Talent recently completed his middle school education at Westerville’s highly regarded Genoa Middle School, graduating with flying colors and a GPA of 3.67. His academic prowess sets the stage for his future endeavors as he prepares to attend Westerville Central High School in the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
Athletic Achievements
Standing tall at 5’8″, Talent’s love for track and field has brought him significant accolades. In the 2024 season, he secured the position of the second-best 400-meter dash runner in the Westerville School District for middle school and emerged as the best discus thrower. His dedication to the sport is evident in these impressive achievements.
Leadership and Innovation
Talent’s leadership skills are blossoming, as seen in his two outstanding projects recently presented to the Ohio public. The first project, “Future City,” was developed alongside two peers and envisioned a city 100 years into the future. The prototype earned recognition from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, a testament to the project’s ingenuity and Talent’s visionary thinking. “For the State’s number one executive officer to recognize my work, I feel so proud and motivated to do more,” Talent expressed with pride.
His second notable project was an Ohio History Day presentation titled “Crossroads of Change: The Great Migration as a Turning Point.” The website, which tells the story of the Black movement from America’s southern states to the northeastern states, captivated audiences and earned Talent an Honorable Mention award. “Building this website to communicate my message was a herculean task, but I pulled the strings successfully,” said the brilliant young historian.
Technological Proficiency
Talent’s passion for computer science and IT is unmistakable. His skills encompass coding, programming, video editing, and graphic design. He has further honed these abilities by attending the IT on Ramp summer workshop organized by Tech Corps, where he acquired skills in gaming and website construction.
Personal Life and Aspirations
At home, Talent is an obedient child to his strict African parents and a caring older brother to his two adorable sisters, Thriller, 11, and Excel, 9. As he approaches his 14th birthday on July 7th, 2024, Talent continues to dream big. “I love real estate and dream of becoming a prosperous realtor and remodeling contractor,” he shares with ambition.
Future Prospects
As Talent Kanjo transitions to high school, his multifaceted talents and unwavering determination promise a bright future. His story is a powerful reminder of the extraordinary potential within our youth, and we are honored to feature him as our Children’s Spotlight of the Week.
