Cincinnati Public Schools Extends Support After Sudden High School Closure

Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) is opening its doors to students and families in need of a new academic home following the unexpected closure of Dohn Community High School. The school, which had initially planned to remain open until June, announced on Friday that it would shut down on Monday due to financial difficulties. With students left without a clear path forward, CPS is stepping in to provide immediate support.

To assist those affected, CPS will hold special enrollment hours on Sunday at noon at the CPS Education Center, located at 2651 Burnet Ave. in Corryville. Families are encouraged to explore the district’s wide range of educational opportunities, including the 22+ High School Diploma Program, the Adult Diploma Program, and alternative pathways designed for students who have faced challenges in traditional school settings.

“Our offerings go beyond academics—we provide strong wraparound services, a team of award-winning educators, and a deep commitment to supporting the whole child and the community,” a CPS representative stated.

CPS remains dedicated to creating a stable, inclusive, and student-centered environment for all learners. Families seeking a fresh start in a supportive educational setting are encouraged to attend Sunday’s enrollment event or reach out to CPS for more information.
