Columbus City Council Backs CCS in Fight for Fair School Funding

Source

Columbus City Schools (CCS) has gained strong backing in its fight for increased funding. On Monday night, the Columbus City Council passed a resolution urging state lawmakers and Governor Mike DeWine to properly fund Ohio schools.

CCS leaders warn that the Governor’s proposed biennial budget would slash $45 million from the district over the next two years, despite record state spending. Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman emphasized the unfair burden on taxpayers, who recently passed a levy to support CCS but may not see the full benefits.

Council members are now calling on the community to contact state legislators and demand proper school funding before the final budget is signed on July 1, 2025.
