Columbus City Schools has appointed Christopher Lockhart as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective November 11, 2024. With over 30 years of experience in information technology, Lockhart has a proven track record in IT leadership, including managing large system deployments, vendor negotiations, and developing strategies that align with business goals while maintaining strong security measures.
Christopher Lockhart, the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Columbus City Schools, previously served as the Director of Technology for Princeton City School District in Cincinnati since 2015. He is known for balancing technology innovation with strong security measures.
Lockhart expressed excitement about enhancing CCS’s technology capabilities and creating a secure, innovative environment for students and staff. He is also deeply connected to Columbus, having moved there as a teenager and raising his family in the community. With his children attending Columbus Public Schools, returning to lead the district is a personal and meaningful homecoming for him.
Christopher Lockhart’s previous roles include Director of Technology at Princeton City School District, Network Administrator at Worthington Schools, and Communications Chief in the U.S. Army. Known for balancing technological innovation with practical needs, Lockhart will play a key role in addressing critical challenges for Columbus City Schools, such as closing the digital divide, modernizing IT infrastructure, and enhancing cybersecurity. He emphasizes the importance of digital equity and protecting systems to ensure students and educators can use technology safely and effectively.
