Dentzler Elementary Student Posts TikTok Threats Targeting Three Classmates

Authorities and school officials responded after a Dentzler Elementary student posted TikTok threats targeting three classmates last weekend.

Parma City Schools Superintendent Charles Smialek said the videos, posted on March 22, featured a list of three names alongside an animated gun. A concerned parent reported the incident to both the school and Parma police.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that the student had no access to firearms and posed no real threat. The district, working with police and the student’s parents, decided on mediation rather than disciplinary action.

This decision frustrated some parents of the named students, but Smialek emphasized that safety remains the top priority. He acknowledged the challenge of addressing social media incidents that occur outside of school while balancing students’ rights.

“We understand some parents wanted a different response, but our goal remains a safe learning environment,” he said.
