Dr. Catherine Krawczeski Takes on Dual Role as Chief Medical Officer and Physician-in-Chief at Nationwide Children’s Hospital

Nationwide Children’s Hospital has announced that Dr. Catherine Krawczeski will now serve as Chief Medical Officer in addition to her current role as Physician-in-Chief, effective immediately. Dr. Krawczeski has been with Nationwide Children’s since 2022 and has made significant contributions to the hospital’s pediatric care and leadership.

Expanded Role and Responsibilities

Dr. Krawczeski will maintain her current roles as Physician-in-Chief and Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s, and Chair of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. In her newly expanded role, she will oversee the quality of medical services while continuing to develop physician leaders, integrating both clinical and academic perspectives to advance the hospital’s vision and strategy.

Previous Roles and Achievements

Before her current positions, Dr. Krawczeski served as Division Chief of Cardiology and Co-Director of The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s from 2018 to 2022. She also holds the Dunlap Endowed Chair in Cardiology. At The Ohio State University College of Medicine, she is a tenured professor of Pediatrics with co-appointments in Cardiology and Critical Care, and has served as Senior Vice Chair of the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Krawczeski’s research credentials are notable; she has been a principal investigator or co-investigator for seven National Institutes of Health grants and has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association.

In 2020, she was selected as a fellow in the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine at Drexel University, a program for senior women healthcare faculty poised to become executive leaders. Dr. Krawczeski earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
