Dublin Teen Dies in Union County Crash; Four Others, Including Two Juveniles, Injured

A heartbreaking tragedy struck Dublin, Ohio, on Sunday evening when 17‑year‑old high school senior Claudia Phan lost her life in a car crash along Hyland Croy Road in Union County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Claudia was driving north in a Kia Forte when she crossed the center line and collided with a Ford Explorer. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries and was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital, while a woman in the front passenger seat and two juveniles in the back were hospitalized with minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
On Monday, Dublin City Schools confirmed Claudia was a senior at Dublin Jerome High School. In a letter to families, Principal Mike Aurin expressed the community’s grief and assured that mental health specialists and crisis team members were available to support students and staff.
The district emphasized the importance of caring for one another during such painful times, urging the community to keep Claudia’s family, friends, and teachers in their thoughts.
