Elementary Student Arrested After Bringing Marijuana, Handgun Parts to School

A 12-year-old student at Longfellow Elementary School in Toledo was arrested on Thursday morning after police reportedly found marijuana and parts of a firearm in his possession.
According to Toledo Police, officers were called to the school around 10:09 a.m. on May 15 after receiving a report of a possible weapon on campus. Upon arrival, officers searched the student and discovered suspected marijuana along with components of a handgun, including a magazine containing ammunition.
The student was taken into custody and transported to the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center.
Toledo Public Schools confirmed that there was no threat made against the school or any specific individual. The incident remains under investigation.
