Girard City School Board President Resigns

Girard City School Board President Diane Alejars officially stepped down from her role on January 10 after announcing her resignation the previous day to the board.
“It’s time for me to move on,” Alejars shared with 21 News.
Alejars served the board for 17 years, dedicating her tenure to advocating for students and the Girard community.
“I did my best to be there for the students of Girard. I fought for what I believed in behind closed and open doors,” Alejars expressed in a heartfelt statement. “I will never stop fighting for and supporting the Girard City Schools and the city of Girard. I bleed red and black.”
The school board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for January 23, where discussions on the next steps are expected to take place.
