Joe Burrow Helps Raise $530,000 to Feed Children Facing Hunger in Ohio

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow helped raise a record $530,000 for Children’s Hunger Alliance at its 30th annual Menu of Hope fundraiser, held in Columbus, Ohio, on 6 March 2025.

The event brought together nearly 800 supporters, including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, First Lady Fran DeWine, business leaders and community representatives, to strengthen nutrition programmes for children experiencing food insecurity.

For Burrow, the campaign reflects a problem he witnessed growing up in Athens County, where some families struggled to afford regular meals. Speaking at the fundraiser, he discussed his upbringing, football career and the charitable work of the Joe Burrow Foundation.

Children’s Hunger Alliance says nearly one in five Ohio children experiences food insecurity, a challenge that can affect health, learning and development.

The organisation reported providing almost 11 million nutritious meals to more than 161,000 children in 2024, working with over 1,800 partner sites across 76 Ohio counties.

Its programmes help children access food through school breakfasts, after-school meals, weekend support and summer feeding initiatives, when some pupils lose access to meals normally available at school.

The fundraiser also coincided with the organisation’s 55th anniversary, underscoring decades of work to improve children’s access to nutritious food.

Money raised at Menu of Hope was intended to expand that support, helping families facing financial hardship and ensuring more children have reliable access to meals.

Burrow’s involvement highlighted the role public figures, communities and policymakers can play in confronting childhood hunger.
