A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to six consecutive life terms in prison for repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Rakeem Ginyard received the sentence on Tuesday, with no possibility of parole for at least 60 years. If he is ever released, he will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender for the rest of his life.

Ginyard was convicted last month on six counts of rape after prosecutors detailed how he exploited his access to the child’s home on East Church Street in Marion.

The assaults occurred over several months between late 2021 and mid-2022. Prosecutors said Ginyard, who traveled between Philadelphia and Columbus, used his weekend visits to carry out the repeated abuse.

During sentencing, the affected child’s mother read a letter her daughter wrote to the court. The letter described the child’s emotional progress through counseling and the family’s hope for her future.

Prosecutor Ray Grogan called the letter a powerful testament to the girl’s resilience, noting that it helped reinforce the prosecution’s determination to secure justice.

“All of us are called to protect children, and today the criminal justice system did just that,” Grogan said. “This brave survivor’s voice, amplified by today’s ruling, warns every predator: We will pursue you relentlessly, and justice will prevail.”
