Ohio 15-year-old Turns Himself In After Fatal Shooting of Younger Brother

A 15-year-old from Ohio turned himself in to police on Saturday after authorities say he fatally shot his 12-year-old brother at their family’s apartment.

The shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, according to police. Emergency responders rushed the younger child to a nearby hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.

Police initially launched a manhunt for a suspect they described as armed and dangerous. The search lasted more than 12 hours. Investigators later determined that the victim’s older brother was likely responsible for the shooting.

On Saturday afternoon, the 15-year-old voluntarily reported to authorities and was taken into custody. He has been charged with reckless homicide.

Police have not said whether the shooting was accidental. Officials also have not released details about how the teenager obtained the firearm.

The investigation remains ongoing.
