Ohio Children Spotlight of the Week: Jaden Gao – A Rising Leader with Purpose and Passion

This week, we shine our Ohio Children’s Spotlight on Jaden Gao, a senior at New Albany High School, whose dynamic pursuits and character exemplify what it means to be a well-rounded, purpose-driven youth leader.

Jaden is not just a top student, he is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a student deeply focused on preparing for a career in medicine. His intellectual curiosity led him to complete 80 internship hours at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Orthopaedic Surgery Department, where he observed surgeons in clinical, research, and operating room environments. This experience has not only sharpened his academic focus but affirmed his desire to pursue a life of healing and service.

Whether in the classroom, on the water, or in the community, Jaden leads with purpose. As Historian of the Future Medical Professionals Club, he plays an integral role in organizing career-building discussions with medical experts. As a senior captain of Westerville Crew, Jaden has rowed at the national level for four years, demonstrating teamwork, resilience, and athletic discipline.

A natural leader across his many spheres of influence, Jaden is also:

  • Secretary of the Red Cross Club

  • Treasurer of the Chess Club

  • Treasurer of the Asian Students Association

  • President of the Chinese Culture Club

Through these roles, he not only plans and leads events, but also advocates for inclusion, culture, and community impact.

Jaden’s heart for service shines just as brightly as his academic and extracurricular achievements. As an Eagle Scout, he completed a meaningful service project, constructing a shed for a local non-profit organization, showing initiative and compassion in action.

He is a constant presence in school and community activities, whether organizing cultural celebrations, supporting humanitarian causes, or promoting student engagement through music and mentorship.

Jaden’s musical dedication is yet another powerful expression of his talent. A four-year band member, he serves as section leader and first tuba in the Honors Wind Ensemble, which recently earned a Superior rating at OMEA Districts. His music is more than performance, it is a discipline and a gift that he shares proudly with his peers and audience.

Jaden Gao is not just preparing for college or a career. He’s preparing to change the world through medicine, leadership, service, and compassion. His journey reminds us that the next generation is not waiting to lead; they are already doing it.

We are proud to spotlight Jaden and celebrate the drive, diversity, and dignity he represents. Ohio’s future is brighter with young leaders like him paving the way.
