Funding is another major issue in the discussion. Ohio’s House Bill 33 expanded voucher programmes in 2023.

Teachers say this shift may reduce funding for public schools. They warn that fewer resources could weaken counselling and student support services.

As a result, safeguarding systems may come under pressure. Schools rely on stable funding to maintain child protection structures.

Finally, educators are calling for stronger involvement in policy discussions. They believe teachers should have a voice in decisions that affect student wellbeing and school safety.
