School Closure: Wooster Christian Cancels Classes Due to Widespread Illness

Wooster Christian School is unusually quiet this Wednesday—no students, no winter coats, and no school supplies on the tables. A sign posted outside reads: “Wooster Christian School is closed until Tuesday, Feb. 18, due to illness and previously scheduled days off.”

The decision comes after a spike in illnesses among students, prompting custodial staff to deep clean the building. Parents were notified around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, and students heard the announcement before their last period.

Abby Rutt, a parent, supported the closure. With one of her three children already sick earlier in the week, she welcomed the extra time off.

“We were just really excited to have the rest of the time off for the week,” Rutt said.

While the Wayne County Health Department has not declared an official outbreak, Principal Claes hopes the temporary closure will help slow the spread.
