Three Teens Arrested After Fatal Airbnb Birthday Party Shooting in Bath Township

Authorities in Bath Township have arrested three teenagers, aged 16, 18, and 19, in connection with the deadly shooting at an Airbnb on November 2 that left 18-year-old Elijah Wells dead.
Seven people were shot during the birthday party, while two others sustained injuries but have since been released from the hospital. Wells succumbed to his injuries on November 6 after being shot eight times.
Police responded around midnight to multiple 911 calls reporting the shooting at the Airbnb rental on Top of the Hill Road. Investigators believe a large group of 250 to 300 teenagers gathered at the party after it was promoted on social media. An unknown shooter or shooters fired multiple rounds, hitting several people before fleeing the scene.
Detectives found out those involved in the crime through a combination of ballistic evidence, witness interviews, and an Akron investigation into a stolen gun. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost credited the NIBIN system, which links ballistic evidence nationwide, for helping law enforcement quickly identify those involved.
The three teens are facing charges related to Wells’ death in Summit County courts, including firearm specifications, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues.
Every child has the right to life, safety, and protection from violence. This right obligates society and authorities to ensure that children and teenagers are safeguarded from gun violence, unsafe gatherings, and other risks that threaten their well-being, and that justice is pursued when these rights are violated.
