Valley Forge High School Student, 16, Fatally Shot During Cleveland Fight; 18-year-old in Custody

Cleveland Police are investigating the tragic shooting death of Aniaz Paradiso, a Parma City School District student, who was killed early Sunday morning following a fight near West 130th Street and Lorain Avenue.
Just after midnight, officers were dispatched after reports of a group of people arguing and fighting. Moments later, gunfire was reported. Upon arrival, police discovered the 16-year-old with a fatal gunshot wound. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Aniaz was a student at Valley Forge High School, where staff described him as magnetic, adventurous, and full of energy, with a smile that could light up a room.
“Our hearts are with his family in this difficult time,” the Parma City School District said in a message to families. To help grieving students and staff, the district’s Crisis Support Team will be present in schools this week.
Police confirmed that an 18-year-old suspect connected to the shooting has been arrested and is being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail. Investigators say the fight broke out after a party at an Airbnb.
Every child has the right to life, survival, and development, and the right to grow up free from violence. Aniaz’s life was cut short before he could fully realize those rights, a tragedy that calls on communities to protect and safeguard all children.
