You Don’t Owe the Crowd

You don’t owe Broad Street, Times Square, Silicon Valley, or social media an explanation for your success, your struggles, or your silence.

“The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not share in its joy.” Proverbs 14:10

You owe that level of disclosure only to your company, a select few who genuinely care for your well-being and your future, and with whom you share not just values, but a divine alignment of hearts.

“And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.” Acts 4: 23

You may wonder, “Why not prioritize values first?”

Because, son, shared values don’t always equal shared care. Just because someone talks like you, votes like you, or believes what you believe doesn’t mean they’ll bleed with you when it matters.

Look at King Saul. When he was made king, “there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched” (1 Samuel 10:26).

This kind of company is rare. They’re not perfect, and neither are you, but you love each other enough to judge your mistakes by your efforts, not by condemnation.

After 55 years walking this earth, I’ve learned something time will always prove right:

The multitude cannot be your company.

Even the Lord Jesus ministered to the crowds, but He drew strength from His company of ONE, John the beloved; of THREE, Peter, James, and John; and of TWELVE, the apostles. And never forget: even among the TWELVE was Judas Iscariot.

How come Judas wasn’t among the THREE? Because, son, even TWELVE can still be a crowd

Even the most favored walk closely with just two or three in their company in a lifetime. Where we come from, we call them Èyàn mí, My Personal Persons.’

Protect your peace. Choose your circle with divine precision, son.

And speak only when it adds value because silence is also a language of strength.

Yours in legacy,

Daddy, whom you now fondly christen Pastor Taiwo.
