Two Teens Charged with Murder of 14-Year-Old in South Linden Shooting
Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 14-year-old Lorenzio Galloway in South Linden.
Police identified Galloway on Monday, two days after he was found shot inside a vehicle near the intersection of Cleveland and East 12th avenues. Officers had initially responded to a reported car crash at that location on Saturday night. Upon arrival, they discovered Galloway with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred just moments earlier as Galloway was leaving the Rosewind Apartments on East 12th Avenue. The children, ages 15 and 16, allegedly opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The loss of such a young life and the involvement of children in such a violent act have sent shockwaves through the community. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together what led to the deadly encounter.
