Student Arrested After Loaded Gun Found on School Campus

A loaded gun was discovered on the Scarlet Oaks campus on Wednesday after the school received an anonymous tip.
Administrators and law enforcement acted immediately, removing the 17-year-old student from class.
According to police, a handgun and a magazine were found in the student’s backpack and promptly confiscated. The teen was arrested and now faces gun-related charges.
Authorities emphasized that no direct threats were made, and the quick response was made possible thanks to other students who alerted officials.
According to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, children in conflict with the law should be treated in a manner that promotes their sense of dignity and worth, reinforces respect for human rights, and focuses on reintegration into society.
Even when serious mistakes are made, the priority must remain not only on accountability but also on rehabilitation.
