Leadership Transition Ahead as Sylvania Schools Name New Superintendent

The Sylvania Board of Education is set to vote on Nov. 10 to appoint Assistant Superintendent Tim Zieroff as the district’s next superintendent. Zieroff would assume the role when current Superintendent Veronica Motley retires on July 31, 2026, after six years of service.
Zieroff brings 28 years of experience in education, including 15 years within Sylvania Schools. Before becoming assistant superintendent nine years ago, his roles included teacher, athletic director, dean of students, assistant principal, and principal.
Board President Julie Hoffman praised Zieroff’s leadership and vision, while Superintendent Motley expressed full confidence in his ability to lead the district.
Zieroff said he looks forward to continuing collaboration with teachers, staff, families, and the community to support student success. If approved, his new contract will begin Aug. 1, 2026.
Leadership transitions in schools are most meaningful when they reinforce students’ right to quality education.
Zieroff’s student-centered record supports children’s right to learn, grow, and reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and academically enriching environment.
