Federal Arrest Made as Search Intensifies for Missing 16-Year-Old Madison Fields

Madison, a Colerain Township teenager, has now been missing since February 13. She was last seen around 4 p.m. leaving the InTown Suites on Colerain Avenue, where her family had been staying. Police were notified three days later, and the case has since been upgraded to an endangered missing juvenile by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

On Thursday night, federal agents arrested Kyle Lawrence, 43, of Buffalo, New York. He appeared in federal court on Friday on sexual exploitation charges unrelated, at this stage, to Madison’s disappearance. Colerain Township Police confirmed that Lawrence had prior interactions with the teen but emphasized that he has not been charged in connection with her case.

From a child protection standpoint, the development raises serious safeguarding concerns. Madison’s father previously said she had been communicating with an 18-year-old man on the encrypted messaging app “Session” and may have planned to meet him. Investigators have not publicly confirmed whether that individual and the man now in custody are the same person.

Advocates warn that cases involving online contact between teens and unknown adults can escalate quickly, particularly when conversations move to encrypted platforms. Grooming and exploitation often rely on secrecy, emotional manipulation, and promises that draw young people away from trusted adults.

Meanwhile, community efforts have not slowed. Volunteers continue distributing flyers across Colerain Township and the greater Cincinnati area, braving freezing temperatures to keep Madison’s face and name visible. Her family has asked for compassion and vigilance, repeating that their focus remains on bringing her home safely.

Madison was last seen wearing a black Champion hoodie, camouflage pants, and black shoes. She was carrying a black backpack and a white grocery bag.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Madison’s whereabouts to contact local law enforcement immediately. In cases involving missing juveniles, timely tips and public awareness can be critical in protecting a child and ensuring a safe return.
