Children Spotlight of the Week: Celebrating Isabella Kerry
This week, we shine the spotlight on an extraordinary student who exemplifies academic excellence, leadership, and character—Isabella Kerry. With a remarkable 4.5 GPA, Isabella ranks fourth in her class, proving that hard work and dedication truly pay off.
Isabella’s passion for creative writing shines brightly in her favorite course. Her artistic talents extend to the stage, where she has been a dedicated cast member in every fall play throughout her high school career. This year, she takes on the lead role in the school’s production of Antigone, encouraging students, staff, and community members to attend the performances from November 21-23. Isabella’s commitment to the arts also includes participation in every musical, with plans to continue this spring.
Beyond the stage, Isabella showcases her leadership skills as the field commander of the Pride of London Marching Band, a role she has embraced since eighth grade. After serving as the low brass section leader in her sophomore and junior years, Isabella’s journey in music reflects her dedication and passion for teamwork.
Her commitment to inclusivity and community involvement is evident in her four-year membership in the Diversity Club, where she currently serves as president. Isabella is also a proud member of the National Honor Society since her junior year and leads this organization as president. Additionally, she has been a Madison County Prevention youth ambassador for three years and has actively participated in the Rotary Speech Competition for the past two years.
Isabella attributes much of her success to the inspiring support of her college and career coordinator, Betsy Dennis. “She loves students and goes above and beyond her job requirements to help them,” Isabella shared. “She’s answered all of my emails, even in the summer, and has been incredibly helpful all four years of school, especially with college applications and my College Credit Plus classes.”
In response, Mrs. Dennis expressed her admiration for Isabella, stating, “I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Isabella grow academically and personally during her time at London High School and am so excited to see where her path leads. She is so bright, creative, and driven, with natural leadership skills and a smile that lights up any room.”
As she prepares for the next chapter of her life, Isabella plans to attend college, likely out of state. Her dreams and aspirations are as bright as her future. Isabella is the daughter of Noemi and Robert Kerry, and her family undoubtedly takes pride in her accomplishments.
