Children Spotlight of the Week: Mya and Madison Glover – Twin Sisters Achieving Academic Excellence
Date (June 19th, 2024)
This week, our spotlight celebrates the remarkable achievements of Mya and Madison Glover, twin sisters who have excelled academically at Toledo Early College in Ohio. Their story of dedication and hard work has earned them the prestigious titles of valedictorian and salutatorian of their graduating class.
Mya and Madison have been competing since birth, starting with the friendly debate over who is the older twin. “Me, by literally a minute, I was born first,” Madison proudly claims, despite her sister Mya’s playful argument, that she would have been first if not for their mother’s C-section. However, their academic pursuits are driven by shared values rather than sibling rivalry.
“The values that my parents instilled in me as well as my belief that education is the foundation of success, because in the classroom, you learn a lot of skills—dedication, discipline—so just knowing that I can take advantage of that to be more successful in my future, that’s what motivated me,” Madison explains.
Mya, the 2023 valedictorian, and Madison, the salutatorian, both boast impressive GPAs of 3.9, with their scores differing only by decimals. Their academic excellence is further highlighted by their participation in Toledo Excel, through which they have each completed two years of college credit courses while still in high school.
Mya will graduate with 61 college credits and plans to major in marketing at the University of Toledo. “I have all my prerequisites out the way, so now I can focus on a lot of business classes,” she says.
Madison, who will have 63 college credits upon graduation, is set to major in nursing. “Like she said, I got a lot of my prerequisites out of the way, so that was definitely a good opportunity,” she notes.
Next month, the twins will receive their associate degrees, followed by their high school diplomas—a testament to their hard work and determination. Their advice to young people aspiring for similar success is simple yet profound: stay focused and run your own race.
Mya and Madison’s journey is a shining example of how dedication to education and personal values can lead to extraordinary achievements. Their story inspires us all to pursue our goals with commitment and to support one another in our endeavors. We celebrate their outstanding accomplishments and look forward to seeing their continued success as they embark on their college careers.
