Explosive Device Injures Two Juveniles in Huber Heights

On Saturday, the Huber Heights Police responded to a series of alarming incidents at Thomas A. Cloud Memorial Park and the surrounding area.
The initial call came in after reports of an explosion near a food truck area within the park, located at 4707 Brandt Pike. Officers and emergency crews arrived to find that an unknown type of explosive device had been detonated inside a trash can. Two juveniles sustained minor injuries in the blast and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
While handling the explosion scene, police also received reports of an active shooter within the park. After investigating, officers found no evidence of gunfire and determined there was no active shooter involved.
As the event continued, police encountered large groups of disorderly and uncooperative individuals in the park. These groups were ordered to leave the area. Meanwhile, just across the street at the Brandt Pike Place Shopping Center, officers responded to additional disturbances involving multiple fights among individuals gathered there.
Due to the nature and scale of the incidents, the police issued a “99” call—an alert requesting backup from neighboring law enforcement agencies. Several arrests were made throughout the course of the evening in connection with the various disturbances.
The Huber Heights Police Division, in collaboration with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, is actively investigating the explosion.
