Gun Found in Student’s Backpack at Eaton Elementary School
Police are investigating after a gun was discovered in a student’s backpack at William Bruce Elementary School in Eaton on Thursday.
The situation unfolded during gym class when the student dropped a bullet, prompting school staff to search the backpack, according to Superintendent Jeff Parker. A firearm was found, and the administration swiftly contacted law enforcement while isolating the student.
Authorities report that the student claimed there was no intent to cause harm. The incident remains under police investigation, and the student faces disciplinary action from the school.
Officials confirmed that the backpack was never inside a classroom.
