A Venezuelan national, identified as Anthony Emmanuel Labrador-Sierra, has been indicted by a Wood County grand jury for allegedly enrolling at Perrysburg High School using a fake birth certificate to pose as a teenage student.

He faces forgery (5th-degree felony) and perjury (3rd-degree felony) charges for reportedly falsifying documents and making sworn statements regarding his age and legal status. If convicted, he could face up to 4 years in prison.

Labrador-Sierra is already in custody at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio after pleading guilty to multiple federal firearm-related offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm and filing false documents.

He is scheduled for federal sentencing on January 23 and will be arraigned on the new state charges on November 13.

Authorities say he used false documents not only for school enrollment, but also in federal applications connected to immigration and firearm purchases.

This case highlights the importance of safeguarding the right of every child to safety and protection within educational spaces. Schools must remain secure environments where students learn without fear of exploitation, deception, or undue risk.

Strong identity-verification measures and cross-agency coordination help ensure that students are protected from situations that compromise their welfare and that school settings remain safe, trustworthy spaces dedicated to children’s development and well-being.
