Ohio Celebrates Grandparents for Their Vital Role in Supporting Children and Families
Ohio is celebrating grandparents and other grandparent figures for their important role in supporting children and strengthening families on Grandparents Day.
The recognition celebrates the role of grandparents, great-grandparents and relatives who offer children love, encouragement, guidance and practical support.
Grandparents can also assist children in keeping their family traditions and stories alive, which can help to reinforce their sense of family and belonging.
The celebration also recognises grandparents and other relatives who are raising children. These kinship caregivers may be parenting children in the midst of family transitions.
The Ohio Grandparent Kinship Coalition offers resources and support to relatives caring for children and offers a chance to meet other families who understand the experiences of kinship care.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the role of grandparents and grandparent figures in children’s wellbeing and development.
