Ohio School Announces Closure Due to Funding Issues

St. John Central Academy in Bellaire, Ohio, has announced that it will close its doors, citing a lack of funding to continue operations. In a statement shared on social media, the school’s Board of Directors explained that the decision was not made lightly.
Leadership and board members had explored every possible avenue to secure financial stability, but ultimately, the combination of declining enrollment and rising operational costs made it impossible to sustain the school.
For decades, St. John Central High School and, more recently, St. John Central Academy served as a cornerstone of the Bellaire community, providing generations of students with not only an education but also a strong foundation in values and tradition.
The board expressed deep gratitude to the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and families who have supported the school through the years, emphasizing that while the building may close, the legacy of St. John Central will live on through its alumni and the memories they carry.
In the wake of the closure, the administration has committed to helping current students and their families transition to new educational opportunities. Efforts will be made to ensure the process is as smooth and supportive as possible.
